The reconstruction of the housing and commercial project on Grosse Oderstrasse by Winking · Froh was awarded 2nd prize in the competition. The design pursues three essential spatial and architectural goals: Revitalizing the Grosse Oderstrasse through three representative, contemporary houses and the creation of a quiet square for the Marienkirche. Reinterpreting Heinrich von Kleist's birthplace with its archway, in combination with the historic “bishop’s alley” as a new connection to the river Oder. Referencing to the Hanseatic roots of the city of Frankfurt and its archaeology by the use of brick and facades with stepped-back gables.
