Conversion and renovation of Berlin-Schöneberg town hall completed
Rathaus Schöneberg Winking Froh

The almost four years of reconstruction and refurbishment of the Schöneberg Town Hall, the official residence of the Governing Mayor of Berlin from 1949 until reunification, were completed in August. They were carried out during ongoing operations and in several stages. Due to the abandonment of Friedenau Town Hall, a restructuring of offices as well as renovation measures in the area of fire protection were necessary in Schöneberg Town Hall. The building with a total area of 57,450 square meters was constructed between 1911 and 1914 by the architects Jürgensen & Bachmann. Against the background of the great importance of the Schöneberg town hall in the historical development of Berlin, a particularly sensitive design approach to the listed building substance was expected. Our office was commissioned within the framework of a tendering procedure. The total construction costs amount to 12 million euros.
