The design for the extension of the Kaiserhof connects to its fire walls, resumes the historic spatial edges and develops an independent structure in interaction with the existing high-rise designed by Helmut Hentrich and Hubert Petschnigg and completed in 1963. The skyscraper is exposed so that an angular passage is created, which widens out to the west to form a new green space. The two main wings of the new building take up the width of the inner courtyard of the Kaiserhof and are connected to each other by two cross-braces. In addition to the passage, this creates a quiet atrium facing inwards. Towards Paul-Nevermann-Platz, the new building ends next to the gable façade of the high-rise building with a striking head and forms the entrance to the passage. The ground floor and first floor accommodate two bank branches, while offices and medical practices are planned for the upper floors. The western wing of the building, which faces the green corridor, is reserved for special forms of housing, housing for the elderly and a hospice. The 18-storey office tower was extensively renovated by Winking  Froh Architekten in 2007.
