Together with Hamburg’s first mayor Peter Tschentscher we were topping out our housing project “Fischbeker Heidbrook Plateau” on May 14th at Hamburg-Harburg. As a result of an assessment procedure which we had won in 2014, the eight terraced houses are grouped around two courtyards. Continuous bands of red brick together with pale concrete elements follow the vivid placement of the balconies and relate to the materiality found at Harburg or the marsh lands of the Elbe. The 164 housing units on the former barrack area will be a mixture of subsidized and market-oriented rentals, which the project partners will be completing by 2020. In addition to the architectural relations, a kindergarten and a neighbourhood club will facilitate the growth of a vital environment in the central courts of the new development of “Fischbeker Heidbrook Plateau”.
